Noah: Two Covenants, One Destiny – At World’s End – Almost
By Pastor Ralph A. Rebandt II

Scripture Texts: Genesis 6:5-22, Genesis 9:9-12, 1 Peter 3:20, 2 Peter 2:5

The historical flood and God’s promises to Noah are typically described and exegeted as singular. But is what is commonly referred to as The Noahic Covenant really two covenants rather than simply one? A careful examination of Genesis 6 and Genesis 9 indicates two different covenants, one pre-flood and the other post-flood. Each has different covenant theses or premises, each is made with two different groups or parties, and each has a significantly different covenant sign and seal. Even the Apostle Peter alludes to these differences. Why are these distinctions important, and what do they teach us in the 21st Century? Learn more…

Are God’s Covenants conditional or unconditional? Should our primary biblical hermeneutical guideline be “If the plain sense makes common sense, then seek no other sense.”? Or should we principally use Scripture to interpret Scripture? God’s covenants are best understood by the latter method, and it is the only way to a sound and robust comprehension of God’s covenant with Abraham in the full light of the New Testament. Learn more…

In the fullness of time Jesus the Christos, the Messiah, was born. Scripture gives Jesus covenantal “rights” as David’s Son. In His name, in His “greatness”, in His titles as “Son of the Most High” and “Son of God” – all of these birth rights are ancestry and prophetic, and find fulfillment in the virgin birth of Christ Jesus. What is involved in Jesus’ kingly rule, and how is it related to God’s Covenant of Grace? It is intimately associated to Christmas. Learn more…

All God’s covenants are of grace, including the “Big Five,” the ones made with Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, and the New Covenant. And the operational means of all God’s covenants, His overall Covenant of Grace, is faith. In this respect the Old and New Testaments are seamless and singular, unambiguous and unequivocal. At no time in history could any regular person ever work, earn, or merit a right standing before a perfectly just God. It has always been, and so remains, by grace through faith in the Promised Messiah, either looking forward or back in time to the cross. Learn more…

God’s Covenant is labeled “My Covenant,” with irrevocable promises, and backed by the oath “I will be your God and you will be My people.” God’s Covenant with Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, and the New Covenant are not a series of separate, failed attempts by God to bring grace to His people.
The Covenant of Life: Covenant Breakers
By Pastor Ralph A. Rebandt II
Scripture Texts: Genesis 3:1-13 ; Genesis 5:1 ; Psalm 49:7-9

A visit by Satan to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden had severe consequences. By deception, willful disobedience, and disbelief in God’s Word and beneficence, the first Adam sinned and broke the Covenant. The results were, and remain, guilt, shame, fear and broken relationships with God, husbands and wives, and all of Adam’s posterity — epitomized in spiritual and physical death. But God, in His mercy and loving kindness, redeems us from the grave through the Second Adam, Jesus Christ, His Son, and covers our sin with His precious blood.
