There are four main aspects to the youth ministry at OHCC:

1. Teaching: We study topics that will develop and strengthen a Christian worldview within our students.
2. Small Groups: These groups try to meet once a month to study and discuss a book.
3. Fellowship: Each year we try to plan several fun, social activities for the youth to attend.
4. Service: We try to organize several service projects to serve church members and the broader community. Many students also participate in mission trips over the summer.  The students in the youth group have shown that they have a great heart to serve others and show the love and truth of Jesus to those who need it.

Teams within the music committee were set up to organize and execute music for their given day(s) each month. They have done a wonderful job of picking out music, planning and organizing the accompaniment, offertories and special music pieces. We are truly blessed by them!

There is a wealth of talent at Oakland Hills featuring the orchestra, choir, vocal and instrumental ensembles, children’s choir, and outstanding piano accompaniment.

As His covenant children we are called to be His disciples, to grow together in the knowledge of His Word, to love, honor and obey Him who is our God and our Savior! We welcome and invite you to OHCC to learn and apply God’s Word, that together we can use our gifts and talents to teach and serve others. Our Sunday school program includes six separate classes from pre-school toddlers through our adult Sunday school group all which begin at 9:45 am until 10:30 am every Lord’s Day. I personally will look forward to meeting with you and will assist you and your family with a warm welcome and greeting from all our teachers at Oakland Hills Community Church!

• Gas money for vehicles.
• Help with auto insurance and medical insurance.
• Food in the form of Kroger gift cards, food pantry items, fruit baskets, and baked goods from the bread ministry.
• Medical and dental care.
• Encouragement and financial aid for several members in between jobs, and others who were unemployed for many months this year.
• Tuition assistance for college students.
• Rent money and mortgage money.
• Financial counseling, mentoring, encouragement, and prayers.

Ministry Highlights for 2009

• The food pantry that was begun in November of 2008 was useful to many members and friends throughout 2009.
• We also started a Tuesday night “Bread Ministry.” Approximately $52,000 retail value in “day old” baked goods was distributed to families all over Wayne and Oakland counties during 2009. Approximately 25 to 30 families and other individuals were helped each week from the “Bread Ministry.”

In Acts 2:42-48 we see that the church should have four values which guide its ministry and life together: worship, teaching, nurture, and outreach. Based on those four values Oakland Hills has a vision to be a life-giving and reproducing church, according to the Word of God, and for His glory.

Values and visions are great, but there need to be specific ways and means to implement them, and Covenant Community Groups (CCG) are the primary vehicle by which OHCC implements the value of nurture, and therefore they are vital to the growth of the church.

God designs us as relational beings, for He Himself is a relational God, thus relationships with other believers are necessary for our growth in grace. And as society and culture have become increasingly isolated and fragmented, relationships have become gradually more difficult. This represents a crucial opportunity for church ministry.

Aletheia CCG seeks to foster this aspect of nurture through worship, teaching, fellowship, and outreach.  We start by gathering together on Sunday mornings, not simply as just another adult class but to fellowship, pray, and learn from God’s Word. The class teacher has covenanted to pray for class members daily. Prayer requests are taken and emailed to members weekly, and members have covenanted to pray for each other at least three times per week. Class members notify the group of emergency concerns. Different teachers are periodically rotated into the schedule for variety. Outside events are scheduled for additional fellowship and outreach.

As churches grow to over 100 adults, they become too big for everyone to know and fellowship with each other well. Community, care, and support become increasingly difficult and fragmented, especially for church leadership. One biblical response to the inherent problems of economies of scale and size of church growth is to create and foster covenant community groups within the church. This is the purpose of Aletheia CCG.
